Candidates must be current state employees and have a reachable score on the Secretary 1 list or have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as a Secretary 1 or as a title eligible for transfer to Secretary 1 or appointment as Secretary 1 here at UAlbany, less than 1 year of service (remainder of probationary period to be completed in new assignment), Grade 9 with one year in service looking to do 70.1 two grade jump to grade 11, or be a former state employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Secretary 1. May be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and/or experience in using MS Word and MS Excel.

Duties Description Provide principal administrative support for the Office of Community Standards. Front Desk / Administrative Support: multi-line phone system, maintain a high degree of efficiency, confidentiality and professionalism in responding to telephone, email and walk-in requests; ability to multi-task under pressure; ability to work with multiple constituencies including students, parents, attorneys, colleagues in other units throughout the University; Computer proficiency in Windows applications, MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel) and campus computer software applications (PeopleSoft and Advocate). The incumbent will serve as the department receptionist, open and review mail, answer the department telephone, respond to emails and questions concerning campus and department policy and procedure, prepare/distribute responses to letters, review outgoing correspondence for proper grammatical usage and factual correctness, maintain and update various databases and procedures manuals, send distribution emails, schedule meetings, maintain calendars, coordinate travel arrangements, prepare and process travel vouchers, assist with cyclical billing accounts, assist with conference planning, training and presentation materials; order office supplies, supervise student employees, generate work orders, and mail merges.
Ideal opportunity for Grade 9 with one year in service looking for Promotion to Grade 11. Typing proficiency test will be given if necessary at SUNY.
