*These titles require additional qualifications determined by Civil Service. Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing and/or taxation coursework. To be considered, you must include a copy of your college transcripts (unofficial transcripts are acceptable) for verification that you meet the minimum qualifications. Your degree must have been awarded by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational practices. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency and pay the necessary fee. 70.4 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: You may be eligible for Section 70.4 transfer if you have one year of permanent competitive service at salary grade 12 or higher, possess a Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 24 credit hours in accounting and/or auditing coursework and have passed the Professional Careers in Accounting and Auditing examination. Depending on your level of professional accounting/auditing experience, if any, you may be qualified for appointment to Auditor Trainee 1 (NS=14), Auditor Trainee 2 (NS=16), or full-title Senior Auditor, Gr-18.
Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
As a Senior Auditor in the Unemployment Insurance Division, you would perform field audits and investigations of employer accounts and records to ensure proper reporting of wages and payments of Unemployment Insurance contributions. Audits or investigations may be conducted at the employer’s place of business or at the location of the employer’s representative. Duties include, but are not limited to, the examination of employers’ financial records, the gathering of information, and the preparation of written documentation. Other duties include contacting employers to collect employer liabilities due the Department of Labor. This is a field position in which travel is expected.
