Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description The primary duty of this position will be handling day to day wildlife calls and to provide public and user information region-wide. The candidate will also be responsible for issuing wildlife nuisance permits and maintain nuisance wildlife databases in support of wildlife biologists.

Additional duties of this position will include assisting in other wildlife related programs, such as wildlife surveys, land management, big game, wildlife health monitoring, waterfowl banding, furbearer surveys etc. Candidate will require good communication and organizational skills. Computer skills are essential.

A successful candidate must also be available to work a flexible schedule to accommodate field work.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and work in remote areas and adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 6/1/2018 - 3/31/2019. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to dates listed in duties description. Actual work schedule, duties, and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
