Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.
Duties Description The duties and responsibilities of this position will vary seasonally. During the summer, the technician will conduct wetland delineations and other activities related to wetland protection, assist with resolving nuisance black bear issues, conduct wildlife surveys, assist with American black duck research, and band waterfowl. During the fall and winter, the technician will assist with big game and furbearer management with responsibilities that include collecting biological data on harvested deer, bear, and furbearers, collecting CWD samples, and assisting with furbearer and moose surveys and research. Throughout the year, the technician will respond to public requests for hunting/trapping information, provide technical assistance and issue permits for nuisance wildlife issues, and provide technical assistance with regard to injured or distressed wildlife.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 6/25/18- 3/31/19. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to dates listed in duties description.
