Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• You must have a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter.
• You must pass a physical, medical examination (this includes a psychological assessment and drug screening), agility test, and criminal background check.
• You must be cleared through the New York State Child Abuse Registry and the Medicaid Fraud Prevention and Detection Databases.

Duties Description Duties include:

Caring for people with developmental disabilities. These individuals live in houses operated by New York State, but treated as if they belong to the people who live there. You will be part of the “family”. You are there to assist with daily living skills. For example, you may have to help:

• bathe
• dress
• comb and style hair
• eat
• get into and out of wheelchairs
• walk
• cook
• clean the house
• wash clothes
• administer medication(s)
• attend doctor appointments

You will also go on outings, such as shopping, the movies, events in the community, and personal choice activities.
