Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list or be eligible to transfer. To qualify for a permanent appointment under Section 52.6 or 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title designated as a 52.6 or 70.1 eligible.
Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Executive Office in the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is seeking a Records Management Officer to assist with the coordination of the agency’s record management program and serve as the primary contact for the entire agency seeking information on the adoption of and use of general retention schedules.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
As the Records Management Officer you may perform the following but not limited to:
Provide technical assistance and advice to all areas of the Office of People With Developmental Disabilities concerning the management, legal disposition and storage of active and inactive government records;
Using the New York State Archives, Government Record Centers guidelines “General Retention and Disposition Schedule for New York State Government Records” provide uniform guidance for complying with legal, fiscal, and administrative requirements for record retention and provides legal authorization to dispose of records on a regularly scheduled basis.
May draft and issue memos, and or procedures to inform employees of the necessary steps needed to comply with the guidelines, and the schedules of record retention and disposition.
Work with Counsel and Internal Audit and Internal Controls on what records are not covered by these guidelines for retention and/or disposition and create Agency specific schedules for these documents.
Work with the Public Records Access Officer who is responsible for implementing agency program to comply with the Freedom of Information and Personal Privacy Protection Laws and can advise on public access questions.
