Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications New York State Employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as a Building Construction Program Manager 1, OR with one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as an Engineer Trainee and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Provisional Pending Examination:
One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Junior Engineer, Engineer Trainee, Junior Architect, Principal Drafting Technician (and all parenthetics), Junior Landscape Architect, Assistant Superintendent of Construction, Construction Estimator 1 (Mechanical), Construction Estimator 1 (Architectural), Junior Mechanical Estimator, or Junior Architectural Estimator.

OR

Six years of experience in multi-trade building construction that must include at least one year of managing multiple building construction projects. Experience managing multi-trade building construction projects shall include responsibility for three or more of the following areas: construction planning, coordination of multiple trades, cost estimating, project scheduling, material purchasing, resource management (including labor, material, and equipment scheduling), and construction document reading and interpretation (e.g. plans and specifications).

Substitution: An associate's degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering technology, construction technology, building science, or architectural technology may substitute for two years of the general experience. A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering technology, construction technology, building science, or architectural technology may substitute for four years of the general experience.

Duties Description Duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Assist in managing and coordinating medium and large-scale site construction projects for client agencies.
• Manage simple site construction projects for small client agencies.
• Ensure that the assigned program responsibilities or assigned projects meet client requirements, and are completed within time limitations and within funding allocations determined by the client and Division of the Budget.
