Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be reachable on the Administrative Aide eligible list or eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
70.1 Transfer:
To be eligible for a 70.1 transfer, candidate must have one year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to a grade 11 or higher.
Duties Description Pension Recovery:
• Draft subpoenas for bank records
• Review large volumes of subpoenaed financial records to determine where retirement funds have been moved
• Analyze cases and draft written memorandums summarizing the relevant facts and next steps for handling
• Refer cases to Division of Legal Services, Division of Investigations or the Office of the Attorney General for further investigation and processing
• Coordinate the settlement of non-criminal recovery cases and obtain approval from Counsel for the Retirement System, Accounting, etc.
• Process recovered funds and prepare receipt memos to account for incoming funds
• Track the investigation/processing of all civil recovery matters referred to Pension Integrity for review
Independent Contractor/Employee (ICE):
• Contact employers and members for information on service eligibility, research and gather documents to make a determination on employment relationship. Ready 21 cases for review and approval
• Maintain and update databases as required including MEBEL, FileNet, and Lotus Notes
• Review files forwarded from other units to determine if sufficient data exists to make a determination
• Compile and organize documentation requested from public employers throughout the state
• Verify forms are properly completed
• Request additional documentation if necessary
• Actively follow up on requests to insure timely completion of cases
Elected & Appointed Officials:
• Develop proficiency in understanding E&A requirements and review reporting documentation
• Review, analyze and maintain Resolutions and Affidavits sent by participating employers
• Verify materials are properly completed
• Draft correspondence to employer explaining our rejection of the materials received
• Answer questions from employers and members via phone, mail and email
• Maintain and updated databases as required including MEBEL, FileNet, Lotus Notes, and Microsoft Access
• Maintain audit findings sent by the Employer Education Unit
• Research appropriate databases and employer’s website for any other outstanding issues
• Send Resolution never submitted and Resolution overdue letters as needed
• Prepare salary and service requests for any adjustments required
• Make copies of information regarding specific members to send to files for scanning into the member’s folder
