Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Applicants must possess a minimum of four (4) years of civil litigation or other directly relevant experience. Excellent writing, analytical and organizational skills are also required. Candidates possessing experience in health advocacy, consumer protection and/or affirmative litigation are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.
Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking an experienced attorney to serve in its Health Care Bureau in New York City. The Health Care Bureau safeguards the rights of health care consumers statewide through investigation of and enforcement actions against insurers, providers, drug companies and other individuals and entities that engage in fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, or illegal practices in the health care market.
The selected attorney’s primary initial responsibilities will be to support the office’s efforts to hold accountable those responsible for the opioids epidemic in New York and nationally. This may include active litigation roles in discovery, case development, motion practice, expert analysis and trial, as well as conducting investigations and the development of effective remediation strategies.
Additional Comments Salary to be determined commensurate with experience.
