Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
An employee with one year of permanent competitive service in a title allocated to Grade 9 or higher may qualify for transfer pursuant to Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Please note that Keyboarding proficiency is a minimum requirement of this position. Candidates who have not previously held a keyboarding title must pass a 5-minute typing session and must achieve a speed of 30 words per minute (WPM) with at least 96% accuracy in order to meet the NYS DCS keyboarding standard.
Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
As a Secretary 1 in the Personnel Office, you would perform tasks which fall into four broad categories: communication, coordination, organization and records maintenance. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Greet and assist customers both in person and on the phone and direct to proper staff or department
• Open incoming mail and triage to proper staff or department
• Order supplies, draft justifications and process requests for purchases
• Respond to employment verifications
• Monitor the Personnel Questions Mailbox and respond to inquiries
• Retrieve Personal History Files and respond to requests from employees and other offices
• Maintain log of inactive files to be archived and prepare records for archival
• Filing
• Manage E-fax mailbox
• Act as backup to the Director of Personnel’s Secretary
