Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Associate in Education Improvement Services.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for an Associate in Education Improvement Services position in the Office of Accountability (OA). This Office oversees accountability of schools and Local Educational Agencies (LEA) in New York State for student academic results and the use of federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) funds. The Office of Accountability works to close the achievement gap by identifying and supporting schools and LEA that are low-performing, as well as those replicating the best practices of the state’s high performing and high progressing schools and districts. The Calibration Assurance Team is responsible for supporting the diagnostic needs assessments for schools and districts identified as low-performing. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for activities supporting the implementation of the Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE) and other Field Support Team initiatives. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Participate in activities to implement the Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE) process and protocols;
• Participate in the Calibration Assurance Process to ensure that proper alignment has been made between the evidence and the DTSDE rubric and rating;
• Assist in the programmatic review and approval of School Comprehensive Education Plans for Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) or Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Schools and District Comprehensive Improvement Plans for identified Target Districts;
• Coordinate and attend school and school district visits, as scheduled per the approved ESSA plan;
• Communicate through letters and emails to schools and district leaders regarding onsite field support and the collection of necessary documentation prior to onsite visits;
• Maintain data on field support visits to Target districts and Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) or Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) Schools;
• Provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders;
• Participate, as appropriate, in review of grant applications; and
• Complete special assignments as directed.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree will be required for all candidates at the time of interview. Overnight travel is estimated to be 50% of the job duties.
* Leads to a maximum salary of $105,681 based on annual performance advances.
