Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Applicants must be willing to perform moderate to heavy physical labor.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State Driver's License appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Trades experience is a plus.

Duties Description Up to 26 temporary labor class positions will be filled from May 16, 2019 through mid-August 2019, with the possibility of an extension of up to one month.

Incumbents in this position will perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and related activities assisting skilled and semi-skilled trades positions. Incumbents in this position may be required to work from scaffolding, ladders, roofs and sky lifts. Additionally, Maintenance Helpers may perform a variety of activities functioning as a general handyman/woman, including furniture and equipment set ups and removal, in an assigned location. May be assigned to other trades duties when needed.

Specialized assignments that may be assigned include: lawn mowing, string trimming, flower bed maintenance, tree and shrub pruning, landscaping, moving furniture and equipment, basic carpentry, masonry, electrical, plumbing work, and preparing surfaces for painting (repair holes and joints), apply paint or finishes, and paint clean up.

This is a SG-6 position.
The hourly rate of pay for these positions is $14.96.
The daily schedule for these positions is Monday through Friday - 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
