Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
The ideal candidate will possess a Class A CDL.
Duties Description A Trades Generalist assists in the maintenance and construction of buildings, trails, parking areas, hunting & fishing access elements, department assets and infrastructure. This includes snow removal at DEC managed facilities throughout the Region.
In addition, this position will aid in the operation and maintenance of 53 facilities throughout the Region and is essential to ensuring the protection of staff and public health and safety.
Will be required to use the tools, machines, equipment and material of the craft or crafts to which assigned.
Will be required to train and supervise others.
Will be required to plan and lay out work and diagnose problems.
Must be able to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain and/or work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 100 pounds.
This is a temporary position with a duration of 4/1/19 through 11/30/19. Actual work hours and schedule may vary and will be discussed at interview.
