If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.
Minimum Qualifications: You must take and pass a Civil Service examination in order to be considered for this position.
This title is filled from the Office Assistant 1-Keyboarding eligible list. There are no minimum education or experience requirements. However, for those who pass the written test, prior to being considered for appointment, you will be required to pass a keyboarding test that demonstrates your ability to enter text at a rate of at least 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.
Duties Description Under direction of an Office Assistant 2, the duties of the Office Assistant 1 may include, but are
not limited to the following:
• Extensive use of computers, primarily for presentations and spreadsheet applications.
• Receiving and organizing work to be typed, determining document format.
• Compiling reports for processing and distribution.
• Typing correspondence, documents and forms in draft and/or final form using handwritten rough drafts, marked copy, or data from various equipment as source material.
• Proofreading and correcting work producing accurate, clean, completed copy.
• Perform routine clerical and secretarial tasks including, but not limited to: answering phones and taking messages, using photo copiers, fax machines, filing, ordering equipment and supplies.
• Sending correspondence and maintaining records of responses received.
• Taking meeting minutes for the morning meetings and any other meeting as required.
• Receive, sort and distribute mail.
• Copying and scanning for DDPSIV when OA 2 is not available.
• Other duties as assigned.
