Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Education Program Assistant 2.
Section 70.1 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Education Credentials Specialist 1 AND 18 semester credit hours in Education.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for an Education Program Assistant 2 position in the Office of Special Education (OSE). This Office works to promote educational equity and excellence for students with disabilities, oversees the implementation of federal and State laws and policies for students with disabilities, provides general supervision and monitoring of all public and private schools, serves New York State preschool and school-age students with disabilities, and provides technical assistance to parents and school districts. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Education of Children with Disabilities, the incumbent of this position will support the work of the Office of Special Education by providing assistance in the areas of policy, professional development and due process as required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Coordinate logistics and assist in preparing materials for regional meetings, conferences and seminars;
• Arrange statewide public hearings on proposed regulations and legislation;
• Maintain a master network calendar of meeting dates, times and locations;
• Utilize Excel and other systems to analyze data and generate reports;
• Assist in monitoring grant, contract and MOU expenditures;
• Assist with FOIL requests;
• Provide technical assistance by phone or email to internal and external stakeholders; and
• Maintain data systems
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree and credit hours will be required at time of interview.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $71,980 based on annual performance advances.
