Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Human Resources Specialist 2.
Section 52.6 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
Eligible list appointment: Candidates who are reachable on the Human Resources Specialist 2 eligible list may be considered for appointment. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Human Resources Management is seeking applicants for the position of Human Resources Specialist 2. This Office provides personnel services, staff development, labor relations and employee benefits to staff in various diverse program areas within the Education Department, including the Office of Education Policy (including P-12 and Higher Education), the Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services, the Office of the Professions, the Office of Cultural Education, the Office of Performance Improvement and Management Services, and the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.
Under the supervision of the Associate Director Human Resources 2, the Human Resources Specialist 2 will serve as a human resources generalist for one or more of the major Department programs or Offices. The incumbent will perform, and supervise staff in the performance of, activities related to classification and compensation, recruitment and examinations, staffing services, labor relations and advising program staff on personnel matters.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a contingent permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits.
*Leads to a maximum salary of $93,491 based on annual performance advances.
