Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Assistant in Education Improvement Services.
Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Assistant in Education Improvement Services. If you are on the Civil Service eligible list for this title, you may receive a canvass letter. You must complete and return it as instructed on the letter.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Education Policy is seeking candidates for an Assistant in Education Improvement Services position in the Office of Early Learning. The mission of the Early Learning Unit is to provide oversight and technical support to school districts in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and policies related to educating students in Prekindergarten to Third Grade that are aligned with the NYS Board of Regents Early Childhood Policy. The office works closely with parents, early care and education agencies, schools and State agencies to coordinate programs and resources, with the goal of making New York’s early learning system as comprehensive and seamless as possible. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
• Assist in the oversight and management of the voluntary registration of nonpublic nursery schools and kindergartens;
• Aid school districts in the completion of fiscal and programmatic reporting and provide contractual support and assistance;
• Provide remote and onsite technical assistance and monitoring to the State-funded Prekindergarten grantees;
• Support the implementation of professional development consistent with the mission of the office; and
• Assist the Office of Early Learning to ensure that all office deliverables are met.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance and other benefits. Verification of degree and/or transcripts will be required at the time of interview for all candidates. This position requires regular, statewide travel (10% of assignment).
* Leads to a maximum salary of $88,124 based on annual performance advances.
