Must be a current NYS DMV Certified 19-A EXAMINER

Must possess a valid CDL Class B with endorsements for Passenger and Air Brakes.

Appointment will be contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment testing for controlled substance use as mandated by the Federal Highway Administration Omnibus Transportation Act of 1991 (OTETA). Employment cannot commence until notification for successful completion of this pre-employment testing is received. Please note that in addition to the initial testing required by OTETA, the Act further requires that the University conduct pre-assignment (promotion), reasonable suspicion, post-accident, random, follow-up and return to duty drug and alcohol testing throughout the period of employment.

Duties Description At the time of application, you must be a current NYS DMV 19-A Certified EXAMINER which includes:

Successfully completed a DMV-approved Certified Examiner training course
Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements
Licensed at least 18 months in the class of bus you will be testing / evaluating drivers
18 months experience with a 19-A carrier in the past three (3) years
Two (2) years experience in driver training and evaluation
Clean driving record (cannot have accumulated seven or more points within an 18 month period)

Additional operating needs include:

Working knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of vehicles operated.
Working knowledge of simple automotive repair and maintenance procedures.
Working knowledge of routes to specific locations normally visited.
Ability to operate assigned vehicles safely and effectively under various road conditions.
Ability to plan routes to specific locations and to properly estimate time required to reach the locations.
Ability to communicate orally for the purpose of exchanging information.
