Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree* AND two years of professional experience** as described below.

**The professional experience must have been where your duties involved assisting unemployed or under-employed individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment while performing one or more of the following activities:

• Developing and implementing plans for proposals to deliver workforce development and training programs;

• Evaluating, monitoring or administering workforce development and training programs;

• Managing contracts and budgets for workforce development and training programs, which must include development, negotiation, execution, fiscal management and monitoring or program review;

• Determining eligibility for public assistance; or

• Assessing applicants for, or receipts of, welfare employment program benefits to identify and remove barriers to self-sufficiency.

NOTE: Professional experience in workforce development programs is defined as experience where at least 50% of your duties involved assisting unemployed or under-employed individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment.

*Degree must be awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least three years of professional experience OR completion of a registered apprenticeship program or college degree program.
• Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to identify, create and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills with experience in developing and delivering presentations.
• Experience mentoring others (formally or informally).
• Exceptional research skills.
• Stellar technology skills, especially with PowerPoint and remote video conferencing platforms.
• Involvement with experiential learning, curriculum development and creating and implementing workforce training programs
• Experience engaging with industry leaders and researching workforce trends
• Highly organized with proven analytical skills
• Creative problem solver
• Strong written communication and thought organization with the ability to pare down complex topics and make them understandable to broad audiences
• Experience managing projects, including planning and execution
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and to plan, prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment, especially under tight deadlines
• Knowledge of workforce development programs
• A passion for learning new things and teaching others

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Associate Commissioner or designee, the Project Assistant will:

• engage business and education professionals;
• monitor workforce trends and help to align training programs around new and emerging industries;
• deep dive into new and emerging industries and help articulate potential training pathways; brainstorm marketing opportunities and provide direct career guidance training to workforce professionals related to these findings;
• help organize large- and small-scale events and create and deliver presentations.
• Responds to requests from workforce development and training program partners, contractors, employer/employee groups, community-based organizations, other State agencies for program information and policy interpretations.
• Assists in developing and implementing workforce development and training programs, working with workforce development system partners and community-based organizations; gathers, organizes, prepares and disseminates training related materials to attendees at regional meetings, conferences and forums to advise the various participants of changes in procedure, eligibility or requirements
