Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications REACHABLE ON THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL SERVICE LIST FOR LEGAL ASSISTANT 1, PERMANENT OR CONTINGENT PERMANENT STATUS AS A LEGAL ASSISTANT 1, OR ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSFER.

Duties Description •Draft subpoenas and other legal documents.
•Gather, review, and analyze documents.
•Prepare and process motion papers and documents to be turned over during the discovery process.
•Prepare demonstrative exhibits.
•Perform legal research. Identify and locate potential sources of relevant information.
•Assist attorneys in depositions, witness preparation, and court proceedings, including jury trials.
•Review and organize documents and other evidence.
•Open and assign cases in agency’s case management system.
•Build professional relationships with partners in other government agencies.
•Become adept and creative in the use of search engines and social media.
•Organize case files.
•Perform other legal and office support duties as assigned.

Additional Comments PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple tasks under time constraints, prior experience in a legal practice as a clerk or paralegal, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Relativity are preferred.
