Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To be considered for appointment you will be required to pass a Civil Service language exam to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading the Spanish language at a level that will ensure your ability to perform the duties of the position.

Candidates reachable on the Civil Service Eligible list(s) will be canvassed. However, you may also apply if you are eligible for appointment by one of the following qualifications:

70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service in a Grade 14 or higher determined to be similar by Civil Service.

70.4 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 or higher, a passing score on the Labor Services Representative (Spanish Language) exam and a bachelor’s degree*. Note: Candidates must not have failed the most recent examination for this title. Appointments are made at the Trainee 1 level.

*Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.

Hourly LSR’s are not eligible for transfer or reassignment.

PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: You must have a Bachelor’s degree*.

The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.

55b/c:

Preferred Qualifications: Customer service experience, Microsoft applications, clerical experience. Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.

Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:

The Labor Services Representative (Spanish Language)/Trainee 1/2 will:
• Assist customers and provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations;
• Interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences;
• Identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers. Intensive job placement assistance is key through developing skills-based resume, successful employment interview coaching, providing continuing job leads, conducting employment referrals and advocating for the job seeker when applying for a job;
• Provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor
