Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list.

Candidates must have permanently served at least one year in a title designated as appropriate for transfer in accordance with Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have at least one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 9 or higher. If appointed provisionally, the incumbent will need to take the next Civil Service examination for this title and pass with a score that will be immediately reachable on the resulting eligible list. Failure to take, pass and achieve a reachable score on the examination may result in revocation of the appointment.
Duties Description Under the general supervision of the Associate W.C. Examiner and direct guidance of the Senior W.C. Examiner, the W.C. Examiner functions as a Workgroup member. The incumbent of this position must demonstrate a good knowledge of the Workers’ Compensation Law and the Rules & Regulations, Claims procedures and the Claims Information System (CIS). Duties will include, but are not limited to: examining and managing work queues in CIS; identifying issues and evaluating, preparing and referring cases to the most effective resolution path, such as administrative determination, proposed decision or formal hearing; and handling telephone calls received via the Call Center.
