Minimum Qualifications
CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES:
Current New York State employees with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service as a Public Safety Grants Representative 1 OR current New York State employees with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law. *
**70.4 Transfer: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service at the SG-11 or above AND possession of a bachelor's degree AND standing on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) or Public Administration Transition (PATT) eligible list.
PCO Appointment: Individuals with a score of 100 or above on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list are encouraged to apply. *
*Successful completion of a two-year traineeship leads to appointment as a Public Safety Grants Representative 1, SG-18.

Duties Description
• Manage a caseload of federal and state funded grant contracts.
• Review grant applications and make funding recommendations on the applications.
• Prepare grant contracts from applications/RFA's, including project budgets, workplans, and special conditions, according to state and federal guidelines.
• Review and monitor expenditures and programs of local and state grantees to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
• Assist grantees in administering their grant funded programs and prepare programmatic and fiscal reports.
• Conduct monitoring, on-site visits, and desk reviews with grantees to provide assistance and ensure programmatic/compliance with grant requirements.
• Candidates should possess the ability to speak comfortably with various group sizes and levels of professionals.
• Work schedule may vary based on operational need.
• Other related tasks as assigned.
• Travel is required.
Operational Need:
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Travel will be required, some of which may be overnights.
NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
