Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Candidate must currently be certified in New York State as a Dietitian or Nutritionist OR

currently be registered with the American Dietetic Association as a Dietitian OR

be eligible for a 70.1 transfer OR

be reachable on the Civil Service List

Duties Description The Dietitian will provide total nutrition care to assigned individuals which include the following duties:

• Ensure that all assigned individuals have appropriate diet orders as ordered by physician.

• Consult with physicians and other health professionals on nutritional needs of individuals served.

• Complete Annual, Semi-Annual, Quarterly Nutrition Note in the Electronic Health Record.

• Monitor the need of high nutritional risk individuals in their assigned area (i.e. tube feedings, aspiration pneumonia, modified food and liquid consistency diets, diabetes, hypertension, weight etc.)

• Make recommendations to the team regarding nutritional needs.

• Attend and participate in Life Plan meetings.

• Develop seasonal menus tailored to the individuals’ needs.

• Plan and supervise the preparation of special diets and provide recipes.

• Conduct weekly meal observations.

• Develop staff training plans for employees on all three shifts in assigned areas based upon individuals’ specific nutritional care needs.

• Provide periodic oversight across all shift in assigned residences.

• Other duties as assigned.
