Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description This position will support the Furbearer Management Program in Region 5. For much of the year, the technician will lead and conduct field work supporting fisher research and other furbearer surveys; enter, organize, and summarize data, issue trapping permits, and collect biological samples from furbearer carcasses provided by trappers. Throughout the year, the technician will enter data, maintain databases, respond to public requests for hunting/trapping information, provide technical assistance and issue permits for nuisance wildlife issues, and provide technical assistance with regard to injured or distressed wildlife.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 9/30/2021. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
