Minimum Qualifications Either 1 of 3:
1. Proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals in Engineering Examination (FE) exam AND a qualifying bachelor’s degree or higher as listed below.
*Qualifying degrees: Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.
OR
2. Proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals in Engineering Examination (FE) exam AND one year of engineering experience with transportation projects related to highways/roadways, railroad, bridges, airports, waterways, building structures, or traffic management and safety systems.
Selected candidate will be required to take the Civil Service Assistant Engineer (Civil/Transportation) and/or Engineer Trainee examination and obtain a reachable score on the resulting eligible list to be appointed permanently.
OR
3. FOR 70.1 TRANSFER:
The candidate must have one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in a TITLE eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description Assistant Team Leader for Structure Inspection (Albany Division) - The Assistant Team Leader works directly with the Team Leader and assists with all aspects and responsibilities of field inspection and report preparation. Structural inspections are performed on bridges, culverts, retaining walls, overhead sign structures, and high mast light towers. Field work will involve working near high-speed traffic, in or over water, working from heights and operation of access equipment, which may include row boats, extension ladders, and aerial lift devices. Report preparations require computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and the subsequent input of data into the NYSDOT Bridge Data Information System (BDIS) program.
