Duties Description Receive and transmit police messages by radio, telephone, and teletype.
Maintain logs and records and written documents required by the Agency.
Professional and composed, effective communication with outside police agencies and the public; maintaining sound customer service practices and meeting the needs of the Agency under sometimes stressful conditions is essential.
This position operates an extensive array of law enforcement and emergency related communications equipment as well as computer software.
Prioritize all radio and telephone communications. Answer multiple telephone lines, receive emergency and nonemergency calls for law enforcement and dispatch patrols to respond.
Make urgent and important decisions regarding emergency situations based on knowledge, skills and policies and procedures.
Service all walk-in customers.
Perform administrative duties such as data entry and retrieval, information filing and record keeping.
Comply with all Federal, State and local regulations relative to communications and protected data and information.
Other duties as assigned.
Additional Comments The incumbent must pass a background check prior to hire.
Must have High School Diploma or higher.
Must successfully pass a field training program.
Must have strong communication skills and have the ability to communicate with a diverse community.
Must be able to operate and perform under varying degrees of stress and pressure and be able to prioritize emergencies.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays and be flexible with schedule.
Candidates must have the ability to effectively engage in communications that are often various and multiple.
Must be able to navigate various software technologies including those associated with law-enforcement applications and internet-based websites and have excellent data entry skills.
