Currently on the Civil Service List for the title of Senior Accountant and have a reachable score.
Accountant Trainee 1: Reachable for appointment on current Civil Service eligible list used for filling this title, or one (1) year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Please note: Candidates in transferable title may also require the additional qualification of 24 semester credit hours in accounting.
Please Note for Accountant Trainee 1: This is a two (2) year traineeship leading to the Journey Level of Sr. Accountant, Salary Grade 18.
Duties Description The Senior Accountant/Accountant Trainee verifies, allocates, posts, and reconciles financial transactions, summarizing financial status, providing technical advice when needed. Prepares and presents accounting reports as needed, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. Reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems or procedures. Prepares financial statements and produces budgets according to schedule. Plans, assigns and reviews staff’s work. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
