Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description Duties include: 1) conducting an access point angler survey in eastern Lake Ontario during the open water and ice fishing seasons; 2) processing fish for biological data; 3) entering, organizing, and maintaining data ensuring accuracy and reviewing data sheets for adherence to field protocols. May also assist with main Lake Ontario creel survey and other fisheries projects as needed. Candidates with experience operating, trailering, and launching boats; interacting with the public; working with fisheries gear and on creel surveys; and conducting data entry will be preferred. Incumbent must work effectively as a team member and independently. Incumbent must obtain boater safety certification within two weeks of appointment.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 11/30/2022. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the time of an interview.
