Minimum Qualifications Nine years of experience* in one or more of the following assignment areas with a national network, local network television affiliate, cable news, commercial media production facility, marketing communications agency or related operation. College study in a related field may be substituted for up to four years of experience with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience.
a. Engineering or newsroom technology specialist, master control operator, media ingest operator, and/or media data center operator; OR
b. Production planner, production assistant, traffic coordinator, assistant account executive, or assignment editor; OR
c. News videographer, studio camera operator, art director, copywriter, graphic designer, video editor, producer, or web designer; OR
d. Broadcast engineer, uplink engineer, maintenance engineer, or broadcast systems integration
*The specific experience varies for each position under recruitment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• SBE Certification
• Extensive experience with digital video transmission and RF engineering.
Duties Description The Multimedia Production Representative 3, SG-25, will function as the Director of Engineering within Media Services Center of the Office of General Services. The incumbent will oversee all technical operations and maintenance of a television production facility including satellite and fiber optic transport, live control rooms, and post-production suites.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Design and integrate complex television production systems and live control rooms, including the IT infrastructure to support them
• Live stream video streaming systems, including multiple concurrent live webcast streams
• Protect the state’s FCC transmitter licenses including compliance, posting, and renewals
• Oversee 24/7 satellite groundstation operations including quality control of multiple carriers for television, data, and emergency communications
• Manage short and long-haul fiber optic and IP transport video networks
• Maintain facility asset control inventory and technology replacement schedule
• Research, recommend, and procure technology to maintain highest current production standards
• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities for all engineering staff
Note:
• Some travel is required
• Responsible for operational commitments Monday-Sunday, 7AM-midnight and off-hours as unscheduled needs arise.
