Minimum Qualifications CURRENT NEW YORK STATE EMPLOYEE with a minimum of one year of permanent
or contingent-permanent service as a Management Specialist 1, G-18, or in a title allocated to G-16 or above and eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible to transfer to Management Specialist Trainee 1 or Management Specialist Trainee 2 under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
The position may also be filled at the trainee level by appointment of a candidate reachable on the PATT or PCO list. If filled as a trainee, the selected candidate must successfully complete a two-year traineeship.
This position may be designated 55b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
Duties Description Reporting directly to an audit supervisor, the Management Specialist 1 examines and analyzes fee-for-service and managed care documentation to ensure provider compliance with the rules and regulations of the Medicaid program; prepares work papers, checklists, schedules, narratives, tabular material, and analysis of findings; writes memos, letters, exit conference summaries, draft and final audit reports; participates in entrance and exit conferences; communicates with the supervisor, co- workers and provider staff professionally and effectively; adheres to audit deadlines and department goals; performs a survey of the provider operating procedures to determine the nature, reliability, accuracy and accessibility of records; propose solutions to the supervisor regarding audit issues encountered during the field work; create, run, review, analyze and maintain ad hoc reports regarding audit data. May require travel (field work) up to 75%.
