Minimum Qualifications Transfer qualifications: Must be a qualified New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible to transfer via 70.1 in accordance with Civil Service Law.
Provisional qualifications: Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in an office assistant, clerical, or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher.

Duties Description Under the general supervision of a Human Resources Specialist 1, the Office Assistant 2 in the Bureau of Personnel is responsible for serving as initial point of contact for public inquiries to Personnel regarding employment or other routine matters; intake, processing and tracking of employment applications; reviewing and processing employee E-ZPass applications; drafting retirement transaction worksheets & entering retirement membership registrations; maintaining stock of office supplies; processing and tracking of probationary service reports; maintenance of onboarding paperwork library, and serving as point person for scheduling and assisting new employees with onboarding process; opening and processing mail; running and processing a variety of Personnel reports; drafting and tracking Individual Performance Rating Reports; setting up interviews and serving as candidate contact for general information; requesting and processing accrual transfer information from other state agencies; posting exam and vacancy announcements; and general office duties, such as answering phones, filing, and photocopying.
Additional Comments If appointed provisionally, candidate must take the next holding of the Civil Service exam for this title and obtain a reachable score on the resulting eligible list in order to be appointed permanently.
Telecommuting may be allowed after probationary period is over.
