Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting and one to three years’ experience of auditing or financial statement preparation. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be considered, at the discretion of the Corporation.

Knowledge/skill/experience in the following areas is required:

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals

• Financial Statement preparation

• Basic office procedures

• Reconciling of accounts

• Compiling and organizing data and information

• Performing multiple tasks

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to work with a database

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and a willingness to perform work independent of others

Duties Description The Accountant I is responsible for gathering, compiling and updating financial data and records to support accounting activities.

Essential Duties

• Prepare monthly financial statements by fund and by consolidated program area.

• Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements, including EFC’s Statement of Net Position, Statement of Revenues, Expenses and Changes in Net Position, and the Statement of Cashflows.

• Maintain monthly accounting workbook, trial balance, and underlying schedules.

• Review and supervise the recording of cash transactions coded to general ledger accounts and funds.

• Enter adjusting and complex journal entries into General Ledger.

• Evaluate bond payable/receivable schedules and corresponding journal entries for current month’s amortizations.

• Verify payments, disbursements, and transfers with accounting documents to ensure accuracy.

• Reconcile various accounts with bank statements and control ledgers and resolve discrepancies.

• Monitor recipients of federal funding for Single Audit compliance.

Working Conditions and Physical Abilities

Work is performed in an office setting, with prolonged periods of sitting and fine manipulation skills required for computer use.
