Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Care Surveyor 2, OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Open competitive candidates: Reachable on the Health Care Surveyor 2 list. You must have a current license and be a registered professional nurse in ew York State. In addition: You must have had a minimum of five years of pubic health, community health, long-term care, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Long Term Care Facility Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) Minimum Data Set (MDS) experience and training. Quality assurance and utilization review experience. Experience with Medicaid policy, guidelines, rules and regulations. Experience with report writing. Experience with electronic medical records, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.g experience in an appropriate facility setting.
Duties Description The Health Care Surveyor 2, G-19, is responsible for performing nursing reviews of Medicaid providers.
Duties include:
• Conduct nursing reviews of long-term care facilities, other Medicaid provider types from entrance conference until final report is issued.
• Review medical documentation during field work using unit developed review tools and programs to determine that provider documentation supports information submitted by providers during Minimum Data Set (MDS) submission or during claims submission.
• Act as team leader during field work.
• Prepare workpapers and other documentation to support review findings
• Prepare written correspondence to providers and OMIG managers.
• Provide testimony at Administrative Hearings.
• Use available computer auditing tools to access provider and claim information.
Additional Comments Permanent, full-time and competitive. Overnight travel across New York State is required. Percent of travel is approximately 50%.
