Minimum Qualifications Current NYS employees with one year of permanent service in a G-31 or M4 title or higher and, depending on the appointment method to your current position, eligible for transfer to the M5 level under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The Department of Motor Vehicles Office of Driver Licensing and Safety is seeking a qualified individual interested in the position of Motor Vehicle Program Manager 5 to serve as Director of Driver Licensing and Safety.
The Director of Driver Licensing and Safety is responsible for overseeing units related to:
• Driver Regulation;
• Driver Training;
• Motor Carrier Regulation and Policy;
• Ticketing Systems; and
• License Production.
Responsibilities include oversight of the daily operation and administration of the Office of Driver Licensing Services, as well as tactical planning for the future direction of the Office.
In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing:
• Routine evaluation and analysis of program processes to ensure operational requirements and milestones are met;
• Development and/or analysis of legislative and regulatory proposals and their implementation;
• Compliance with federal programs governing commercial drivers and driver records;
• Coordination with external and internal stakeholders, including law enforcement, judicial official and private organizations, and other state and federal agency contacts.
