Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have a minimum of one year of experience in environmental education programs; or one year of college study with specialization in natural sciences, natural resources, or environmental education.
Duties Description The Environmental Education Assistant will, under the direction of the Program Coordinator, assist in the duties and responsibilities of the Private Lands Section in the Division of Lands and Forests. Responsibilities include writing and editing digital and physical outreach materials, webpage updating, database management, large scale event planning assistance, webinar and workshop assistance, program development, communicating with private forest landowners, government agencies, and consulting forester across the state. Gives public presentations and administrative support to Private Lands programs.
The preferred candidate will have strong communication skills, good attention to detail and interest in forestry, active forest management, and working with private forest landowners and a willingness to learn. Will be required to speak in public, creating educational materials and work effectively as part of a team.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration through 3/31/2023. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to date listed. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at interview.
