Minimum Qualifications Eligible for a 70.1 transfer OR
A Bachelor's degree with a concentration or major in Art Therapy OR
A Bachelor's degree in Art, Art Education or Fine Arts AND one (1) year of experience in planning and administering an art therapy program (this experience must involve development and coordination of recreational activities for geriatric residents. This experience must utilize the creative therapies of art as a psychotherapeutic means of achieving in these individuals emotional growth and increased levels of functioning OR Registration with the American Art Therapy Association as an Art Therapist
Duties Description As a Recreation Therapist specializing in Art you would plan and implement craft programs and artistic projects for the geriatric population that are creative, therapeutic and stimulating for the mind, continuously adjusting to coincide with the residents changing needs and capabilities; as a treatment team member you will participate in team meetings, recreation/leisure assessments and evaluations, MDS, Care Plans, collaborating with other disciplines and care givers for the overall care of the Veterans. The goal of each program is to bring about positive change in a residents mental, physical and/or social behavior
Additional Comments We are a 252 bed long term care skilled nursing center caring for the Veterans in our community. Base salary includes downstate location pay.
