Minimum Qualifications To be considered for permanent appointment, candidates must be reachable on the current Civil
Service eligible list or be eligible for reassignment or transfer in accordance with Civil Service Law.
NOTE: Engineering Traineeship Program: As an Engineer Trainee, you will serve a 24-month traineeship that leads to Assistant Engineer, Grade 20. To advance to Assistant Engineer, you must have obtained proof of passing the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (FE) and successfully completed the requirements of the traineeship to the satisfaction of the appointing authority. At the discretion of the appointing authority, early advancement to Assistant Engineer is possible if you have obtained your FE and have successfully completed twelve months of the traineeship. It is your responsibility to notify the appointing authority’s personnel office upon obtaining proof of passing the FE. You may receive an increase in salary upon obtaining your FE. Information about this increase will be provided by the appointing authority..
Duties Description Duties will include but are not limited to:
•Manage Shared Service agreements and Snow & Ice Contracts.
• Serve as Deputy Regional Emergency Manager.
• Assist the Assistant Regional Director of Operation (ARDO) with Special Projects.
• Participate in Emergency Transportation Operations (ETO) as deemed necessary, including assisting in Regional Operations Center (ROC) / Emergency Operation Center (EOC) when active.
• Participate in Regional drills, assist with their planning & development.
• Maintain Regional database of volunteers willing to assist with ETO and their training profile.
• Designated Regional Roadside Status and Damage Assesment (RSDA) coordinator. - Provide training to newly interested volunteers, function as a Regional RSDA ROC operator.
• Assist in purchasing materials utilizing the Statewide Financial System (SFS) as Requisition and Purchase Order Approver.
• Utilize the Maintanence Management System (MMS) for Regional asset reporting, and training residency staff on MMS.
• Assist the Assistant Regional Director of Operations (ARDO) in development of Capital Maintenance projects, Regional Pavement & Culvert Management plans.
• Train in the Incident Command System (ICS) Roles (ICS 100,200, 300, 400, 700, 800).
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Additional Comments *Telecommuting: The Department’s current telecommuting agreement is valid through December 31, 2022 and is subject to extension beyond that date.
