Minimum Qualifications Education level required: Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree or other post-baccalaureate degree preferred.
Equivalent experience required: Over 7 years’ experience in some combination of public sector (State level preferred), project management across teams, not-for-profit organization, small business, economic development, tech, and innovation. Strong preference for experience that demonstrates increasing responsibilities.
Knowledge required: Awareness of ESD and other public funding programs, excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. Excellent people, and group coordination skills a must. Computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Duties Description Basic Functions: The Managing Director will assist in managing a variety of SBTD program responsibilities. Under the direction of the Executive Vice President (EVP) of the division of Small Business and Technology Development and senior staff in coordinating between the subdivisions of SBTD and on key programs and special projects. Work with SVP and senior staff in managing small business activities and developing and implementing proactive small business policies and projects.
Work Performed:
· Provide strategic project management on programs involving multiple subdivisions of the department, including coordinating policy development, approvals, and support from other divisions of ESD and the Board of ESD, as needed, for example for the State Small Business Credit Initiative, and other programs as they are developed.
· Interface with the other levels of government outside of ESD to regarding program development, implementation, and management.
· Address policies across agencies related to community development, innovation, and small businesses.
· Conduct research and draft reports upon the request of the EVP relating to programs in the purview of the division and other topics.
· Prepare reports, spreadsheets and analysis of data collected regarding program information. Help prepare annual reports as prescribed by statute and regulation. Ensure that all information included is accurate prior to forwarding to senior management for approval.
· Supervise assigned staff.
· Other duties as assigned.
Additional Comments Position expected to work onsite and/or remote consistent with NYS and ESD guidelines and needs.
