Minimum Qualifications Education Level required: Bachelor’s Degree with strong economic development background. Professional degree, including master’s degree in public administration, community development, business administration or regional planning preferred.
Relevant experience required: 3-5 years relevant experience required.
Restore NY and FAST NY are economic development programs that strengthen communities and drive economic development programs that strengthen communities and drive economic growth through real estate development. Applicants with experience in economic development, real estate development, site selection, program development, government relations, public policy, community development, and regional planning are preferred.
Duties Description BASIC FUNCTION:
Originate and manage projects to assist with business retention and attraction in New York State from within Empire State Development’s Strategic Business Division. The core function will be to assist Program Directors in implementing the Restore NY and FAST NY programs. The Restore New York Communities Initiative provides municipalities with financial assistance for revitalization of blighted commercial and residential properties. The FAST NY Shovel-Ready Grant Program will provide grants to prepare and develop sites statewide to jumpstart New York’s shovel-readiness and increase its attractiveness to large employers, including high-tech and semiconductor projects and other manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and logistics businesses.
WORK PERFORMED:
• Interact with key stakeholders at the state, regional, and municipal level to respond to inquiries and assist with program administration.
• Attend industry functions to market the programs and engage with stakeholders.
• Analyze project applications for blighted commercial and residential properties and prepare recommendations for funding.
• Analyze project applications for shovel-ready properties and prepare recommendations for funding.
• Present recommendations before a review committee.
• Visit proposed sites and assess project viability.
• Manage the application inbox and organization of application documents.
• Prepare various administrative documents, including program tracking, reports, presentations, budget materials and other documents as needed.
• Assist in other various projects as directed by program directors and department SVP.
Additional Comments Position expected to work onsite and/or remote consistent with NYS and ESD guidelines and needs.
