* For the purpose of this posting, a degree in a human services field includes the professional disciplines of audiology, community mental health, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, social work, speech/language pathology, and therapeutic recreation (including concentrations in art, dance, drama, music, or physical education). Also included are related academic disciplines associated with the study of human behavior (e.g., gerontology, human services, sociology, and speech communication) or human skills development (e.g., counseling, education, and human development).

Examples of non-qualifying degrees include but are not limited to: anthropology, criminal justice, political science, liberal arts, and business.

Duties Description As a Utilization Review Coordinator, you would assist in maintaining the quality and efficiency of health care delivery by assuring health care services are medically necessary and appropriate and are provided in the most cost-efficient manner. You would be responsible for analyzing individual medical records to determine appropriateness of admission, treatment, and length of stay in a facility, in accordance with agency, governmental and accrediting body standards. You would review treatment plans against established OMH criteria and standards to assure treatment is consistent with standard medical practice. You will be involved in discharge planning, concurrent planning, precertification, and clinical case appeals. In addition, you would participate in developing quality improvement monitoring criteria, conducting medical record reviews, addressing and aggregating record review data, and preparing reports for administrative and oversight committees’ reviews.

Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review: Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees may be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.

This position is eligible for the downstate Adjustment of $3,026.
