Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate must be able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment, have strong organizational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to contribute to a team-oriented workplace. The preferred candidate will also have a high level of competence using the following computer programs: Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, Outlook; and Adobe Pro. Experience with State procurements and knowledge of office administration including a strong attention to detail, grammar, punctuation, spelling and business communications is desired.
Duties Description The Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP) was established under Section 502 of the Public Health Law and is responsible for the oversight of ~470 labs performing environmental analyses on NYS samples, thus ensuring the accuracy & reliability of these analyses. ELAP’s key oversight processes are onsite lab inspection reports and the lab’s demonstration of performance through proficiency testing (PT) reports. The incumbent will be responsible for tracking, scanning, and filing inspection reports; drafting correspondences with regulated parties and directing inquires to appropriate program staff; invoicing, tracking, and documenting lab fees; and assisting in the review, filing, and tracking of PT reports. The position requires the incumbent to collect, tabulate, and analyze data monthly and prepare reports to monitor programmatic timelines for completing mandated activities and other duties as assigned.

Additionally, exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position; the selected candidate may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment, and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations.
Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility. Transfer candidates in certain titles will also be required to successfully pass a keyboarding test in order to qualify for appointment.
