Minimum Qualifications Must be physically able to perform the duties assigned. Preference will be given to candidates with college credit in environmental or a physical science and experience in environmental laboratory operations. Possession of a valid driver's license may be required.

Duties Description The Facility Operations Assistant 1 assigned to the Bureau of Air Quality Surveillance will serve as an integral part of the Laboratory Services Section and will be responsible for:
• Maintaining and refurbishing sample collection equipment and supplies to ensure sample integrity.
• Coordinating and documenting incoming and outgoing sample shipments and supplies.
• Visiting field monitoring sites to deploy and/or pick up sampling equipment and maintain sample logs and chain of custody.
• Cleaning sampling canisters and exchanging liquid Nitrogen Dewar's.
• Assisting other laboratory personnel in day-to-day activities related to air monitoring.
• Some duties may require use of a ladder.

Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Travel may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2023. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
