55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility. Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications and a current 55b/c eligibility letter.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions is seeking to fill a Senior Administrative Analyst position in the Office of the State Board for Social Work and Mental Health Practitioners. The Office of the State Board for Social Work and Mental Health Practitioners assists the Board of Regents and the New York State Education Department in the licensing and practice of six (6) professions (master social worker, clinical social worker, mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist, creative arts therapist and psychoanalyst). Under the supervision of the Executive Secretary, the Senior Administrative Analyst duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Review, clarify and recommend action on applicants’ supervised experience for licensure in social work and mental health practitioner professions;
• Respond to telephone, email and written inquiries in a timely, accurate and responsive manner consistent with the Office of the Professions commitment to customer service;
• Collect and analyze data on the education, experience and examination requirements for licensure in the professions and on disciplinary actions to assist in the development of policies that ensure public protection;
• Research and compile information on the education, licensure, practice and discipline of professionals in other jurisdictions to assist in effective professional regulation and public protection; and
• Assist in the documentation of internal procedures and the use of PC-based computer applications to improve workflow, tracking and review of applications and to better communicate with applicants regarding the status of applications and requirements for licensure.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Verification of degree will be required at the time of interview for all candidates.

**This position may be filled as a traineeship. The salary above applies to candidates appointed to Senior Administrative Analyst, SG-18. The salary for candidates appointed to Administrative Analyst Trainee 1 starts at $46,529 and, for current New York State employees, is based on the candidate’s salary at the time of hire. Candidates appointed at the trainee level will be required to successfully complete the traineeship in order to advance to the journey level title and salary.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $77,912 based on annual performance advances.
