MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
An employee with one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title allocated to Grade 23 or higher may qualify for transfer pursuant to Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Computer skills including familiarity with Word, Excel and TeamMate
• Work well with staff at all levels of an organization and in team settings;
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; and
• Ability to take on responsibility and function independently with integrity and discretion.
• Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders
Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
Under the general direction of the Director of Internal Audit and Auditor 3, this position will perform audit duties listed below and supervise Auditors in the Internal Audit Unit at the New York State Department of Labor (Department). The Internal Audit Unit enhances and protects organizational value by providing risk-based and objective assurance, advice and insight into the operations and procedures of the New York State Department of Labor. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:
• Contribute to the development of annual audit plan to identify audits to be performed;
• Conduct of research on programs to be audited to determine purpose, functions, organization, funds involved, and applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing operation;
• Perform audit work to meet applicable audit standards;
• Review audit work of assigned staff for accuracy, adherence to schedules and compliance with applicable regulations;
• Provide guidance to staff in addressing audit issues;
• Prepare and edit draft audit reports to ensure clear and concise presentation of audit findings and recommendations to program area under review;
• Serve as liaison on external audits of Department operations. Coordinate external audit activities and ensure Director is apprised of audit progress;
• Participate in special projects as assigned;
• Perform the full range of administrative activities such as preparing performance evaluations, approving leave requests and timesheets, evaluating candidates for appointment, and approving travel plans.
