Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have at least five (5) years of legal experience. The ideal candidate will have at least seven (7) years of legal experience, including at least five (5) years as a prosecutor. Substantial experience in developing and managing complex, document-intensive investigations is required for this position. Excellent writing skills and significant grand jury and trial experience are also required. A background in government and policy is desirable.

Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States. A two (2) year commitment upon being hired is a condition of employment.

Duties Description The New York State Office of the Attorney General is seeking experienced prosecutors for the Public Integrity Bureau (PIB) in the New York City and Albany offices. PIB investigates and prosecutes crimes committed by public employees, elected officials, candidates for public office, and people and entities that steal from the government. Prosecutors with PIB handle complex, long-term investigations into government corruption, fraud, bribery and abuse of authority. PIB investigates and brings criminal charges against public servants and others who engage in corruptive practices. PIB handles matters from the initial allegation through to settlement, plea or trial. PIB consists of attorneys, investigators, auditors and analysts.
