Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or seven or more years of experience, serving as the primary administrative support to executive leadership in a large agency or organization.

Duties Description The incumbent of this position will serves as Executive Assistant to the Commissioner of the NYS Department of Health which entails working with confidential, sensitive information while coordinating and organizing workflow of the Commissioner’s Office. The Department of Health is one of the most complex State agencies in terms of diversity of function, relationships with not-for-profit entities and interest groups, funding sources and contractual agreements. The Executive Assistant will provide executive level administrative support to the Commissioner and administrative leadership to program offices within the Department of Health. In support of the Commissioner, the incumbent will coordinate activities and projects, prepare reports, and respond to requests for information by collecting and combing information from all agency programs. Specific tasks will include but are not limited to: Coordinate the Commissioner’s daily itinerary. Coordinate internal and external meetings and public forums. Handle catering, travel, logistics and other administrative duties as needed. Handle complex issues, recent examples include the COVID-19 pandemic and monkeypox outbreaks. Serve as the communication link between the Commissioner and Department programs. Provide accurate information in response to inquiries, clarification of policies and procedures, and assistance or advice, when appropriate. Coordinate, prepare and review department wide and individual program responses to Governor and Legislative requests for information and reports for the Commissioner’s approval and submission. As requested, perform other administrative duties to support the Commissioner’s Office.
Additional Comments Occasional Travel. Evening and Weekend hours may be required.
