Duties Description The selected candidate will work on the Regional Road Crew under the direction of the Road Crew Maintenance Supervisor and the Regional Maintenance Supervisor. The primary work for this position is driving large trucks, plowing snow, operation of heavy equipment, and road maintenance. The incumbent will operate the regional snowplows, garbage truck and should have experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, skid steers, rollers, graders, etc.
Additional Comments • Work shift may vary as necessary but will commonly be 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. during the winter months, and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during summer months.
• Work schedule will include weekends, weekdays, nights, and holidays when necessary.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS license as a term and condition of employment.
• The selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A or Class B Driver’s License with air brake endorsement as a term and condition of employment.
• Must be capable of operating a truck/trailer combination to transport heavy equipment to and from job sites.
• Must possess working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment associated with road maintenance, as well as working knowledge of safety standards and procedures and applicable codes and regulations associated with road maintenance.
• Must have the ability to understand and carry out instructions, including in writing.
• Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor.
*Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The incumbent is required to participate in pre-employment, random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
