Minimum Qualifications You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program (see below), or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
70.1 transfer
For a 70.1 transfer to this title, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in a 70.1 title allocated to a salary grade 16 or above.
52.6 transfer
For a 52.6 transfer to this title, you must have one year of permanent competitive service in a 52.6 title allocated to a salary grade 16 or above.

55-b/c program appointment:
For a 55 b/c appointment, you must:
• Possess the minimum qualifications for the selected title as established by the Department of Civil Service and listed on the most recent exam announcement. (Open Competitive exam announcement - ITS 1 & 2)
• Meet the applicable minimal mental and/or physical requirements for the job (with a reasonable accommodation, if necessary)
• Have a current Eligibility Letter from the NYS Department of Civil Service www.cs.ny.gov/rp55/, and be able to provide it to the Human Resources Office upon request.
Duties Description • Daily administration of Oracle Database environments including, but not limited to, monitoring the system, and taking corrective action as necessary.
• Ensure systems are current with Oracle releases, patches, etc.
• Troubleshoot issues to ensure timely resolution for customers.
• Implement proper database design, backups, statistics, index reorganization, etc.
• Prioritize assignments to ensure deadlines are met and timelines are adhered to.
• Prepare and review complex technical requirements, ensuring they are comprehensively written and that requirements will be fully met.
• Serve on various committees related to IT and/or user requirements.
• Assist bureau management with research and special projects.
• Create and review software and procedural documentation.
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Completion of an Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree (Bachelor’s).
• Demonstrated experience in SQL (3 months to less than 1 year).
• Demonstrated experience in Relational Database/RDMS (3 months to less than 1 year).
• Ability to facilitate discussions with all levels of staff within the user community. These discussions should include the gathering of requirements, setting priorities, and realistic goals.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
