Preferred Qualifications: Experience with personnel administration at the Division or Center level; experience with recruitment activities and/or onboarding staff; proficiency with tracking system development and/or management; experience with Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams; familiarity with confidentiality and handling confidential information/documentation; ability to work independently as well as with diverse groups of individuals and offices.

Duties Description The Administrative Assistant 1, Grade 11, will be responsible for assisting with and coordinating a multitude of administrative functions within the Center for Community Health's (CCH) Resource Management Unit (RMU). Functions include assisting with reviewing, monitoring, and tracking personnel waiver/permission-to-fill requests, realignments, re-classifications, and other personnel-related functions; assisting with creating, amending and/or modifying centralized tracking systems for personnel and other administrative functions; assisting with recruitment and onboarding activities; assisting with the Bureau Mail Log (BML) tracking of personnel requests; supporting compliance with established personnel policies and procedures; and updating and maintaining procedural job aids for various administrative functions.

Additional Comments "Permanent, competitive, or provisional, full-time. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility. Transfer candidates in certain titles will also be required to successfully pass a keyboarding test in order to qualify for appointment.

*Note: Appointment may be made at a traineeship level. A new two-year traineeship, (Administrative Assistant Trainee 1, NS=Grade 8, starting salary $35,528, and Administrative Assistant Trainee 2, NS=Grade 10, starting salary, $38,875) leading to Administrative Assistant 1, Grade 11, has been approved effective October 31, 2019. Trainees will be required to take four mandatory courses the first year of the traineeship and four elective courses in each the second year of the traineeship in four competency areas through the CSEA Partnership, or equivalent offerings through another entity as determined by the agency. All trainees are required to successfully complete all courses before advancing to the Administrative Assistant 1, Grade 11.

If three or fewer NYS DOH promotional candidates respond to this posting, the agency may, at its discreton, nominate a qualified employee for non-competitive promotion under under the provisions of Section 52.7 of the NYS Civil Service Law. Provisional appointees will be required to apply for and take the next Civil Service examination announced for this title, and achieve a high enough score to be immediately appointable from the resulting eligible list in order to maintain employment.
